Ways to Live an Extraordinary Life

growth mindset life Aug 19, 2021

It's becoming increasingly evident to me that having a remarkable life isn't about having a lot of money, climbing the corporate ladder, getting fancy titles, or having 15 minutes of fame. The approval of others is another place where you'll never find an outstanding existence, especially if you're doing what you think everyone expects of you.

If you want to live an extraordinary life, you must first recognize and appreciate the outstanding aspects of your life. Something in your life is amazing or unique because you claim it to be such. That's all there is to it.

1. Pay Attention. It's impossible to notice the wonderful things around you or how you feel about your life while you're preoccupied. Unplug, look up, and be present in the moment.

2. Be Grateful. Gratitude will help you keep focused on the wonderful things that happen in your daily life. It feels good to express gratitude, and it serves as a constant reminder of how remarkable your life is.

3. Stop Comparing. There will always be someone who has more or less than you. Someone will always be better or worse than you at anything you do. You can't judge who you are or what you have based on what others have or do, and if all you think about is what they have or do, you'll never truly appreciate all of your own wonderful blessings. Even your past and future can't be used as yardsticks for evaluating your current life. Keep your eyes on your own paper.

4. Let Go. I realize I'm the one with the tight grip every time I think something has a hold on me. Don't be afraid of space or the lack of all the things you think you need to feel safe and happy. Absence makes the heart grow.

5. Make space. Get rid of the surplus and clutter. To pay attention to what matters most, you need space and room.

6. Slow Down. Right now, the exceptional life you've been waiting for is unfolding. Your remarkable existence is patiently waiting for a warm greeting while you are rushing to the finish line, making plans, keeping up, and getting by. Slow down and take a look around, or come to a complete stop to take in everything that is there in front of you.

7. Admire small miracles. The extraordinary isn't always found in huge gestures or large-scale developments or events. Enjoy the small pleasures in life, such as the first bite of ripe fruit, gorgeous scenery, a stranger's friendly smile, or any of the countless events that occur on a daily basis. Small pleasures should be savored, and love should be found in simple things.

8. Write it down. Keep a journal to keep track of the unusual events that occur in your daily life. Knowing that you'll be keeping track of your observations will serve as a reminder to pay attention, and the more you pay attention, the more you'll notice.

9. Act like a tourist. You may become accustomed to your surroundings and daily activities, oblivious to the unusual aspects. Make yourself a tourist in your own life and neighborhood, and take in everything for the first time. Remember how that vista used to take your breath away, or how someone's treatment of you used to make your heart skip a beat? Change your lens to re-capture amazement.

10. Be extraordinary. Being outstanding is the finest approach to have an incredible life. Be exceptional in your treatment of others, including yourself. Make a difference in the way you spend your time. Be exceptional in your thoughts, words, and deeds.

All of the remarkable moments I have when traveling remind me of the extraordinary in everyday life. You don't even need to leave your house to find it. The extraordinary is all around us.
